Enfield Town Ladies U12's first game of the season was at home to Kinja, a team that they had beaten twice, in 2 very close encounters, when they had played them last season. So Enfield were feeling confident going into the match, even though it was likely to be a tough game. Enfield made a good start, controlling possession and putting together some good passing sequences. However, they were unable to capitalise on this good period of play and they were duly punished when Kinja produced an effective attack through the middle to score the first goal. This seemed to energise Kinja and seemed to have the opposite effect on Enfield. Kinja began to push forward as a unit and the Enfield defence were unable to cope with the pressure as they proceeded to concede 3 quick goals. The half ending with Kinja 4-0 up and Enfield seemingly on the ropes.
Some half time substitutions by Enfield transformed the game as Enfield took the game to Kinja. Quick movement of the ball by Enfield to both wings lead to attack after attack and Enfield duly scored 3 goals from in quick succession 2 from Daisy and 1 from Yasmin. However, Kinja then seemed to regain there composure, or maybe Enfield just could not keep the momentum going, but the two teams then appeared to cancel each other out as there was a long period where nether team was able to fashion a chance. Then, with Enfield pressing for the equaliser, Kinja managed a counterattack that lead to the final goal of the game. So a defeat for Enfield on the first game of the season. But there were some very positive signs for the future for the team; a number of new girls had successfully integrated into the team; and, the second half performance had been very good.
