Enfield Town 3 Potters Bar Town 1 - match report by Aaron Patel
Spectators had barely taken their places in the Bank Holiday sunshine as, just four minutes in, a ball played over the top into the box was knocked down by Josh Davison into the path of Kezie Ibe, who slotted home from close-range to open the scoring writes Aaron Patel.
Moments later, and looking impressive going forward, Aaron Greene made a blistering run down the left, but he dragged his effort wide. With 10 minutes played Town's relentless early pressure didn't let-up; this time Sam Youngs had his left-footed effort saved by Nikola Tzanev in the Scholars’ goal.
Town doubled their lead in the 14th minute when Greene's cross from the left was headed in by Youngs from a few yards out. After the initial fifteen minutes of being penned back, the visitors finally got their first sight of goal in the 17th minute when Bradley Sach's shot from outside the box was collected easily by Matt Nolan.
Skipper Matt Johnson saw his long-range effort dip and smash against the bar in the 24th minute, with what would have been a contender for goal of the season. Mickey Parcell was replaced by James Mulley in the 26th minute after he had taken a knock. Understandably, as the half-hour mark approached, the game's tempo slowed and both sides were locked more into a midfield battle.
Bar found a way back into the game in the 32nd minute when, after picking up the ball from George Nicholas, Josh Hutchinson’s path towards goal was far too easy as Town stepped off him, and he slotted home to make it 2-1. Then, five minutes before the break Hutchinson turned and shot after being set up by Nana Kyei, but his effort flashed over the top.

Moments into the second period the visitors almost levelled again when Ben Ward-Cochrane was played through by Sach, and he placed the ball past Nolan, but Sam Hatton was able to clear at the second attempt. The, a few minutes later, Nolan pulled off a great save from Hutchinson from point-blank range after more good work from Ward-Cochrane. Bar were looking the brighter of the two sides at this point.
Marc Weatherstone headed just wide from a corner in the 55th minute before Johnson had another effort from distance four minutes later – this time high and wide. After a period of stalemate in the heat, with less than 15 minutes to play Greene's effort was saved by Tzanev, who turned the ball behind for a corner. Seconds later, substitute Bilal Sayoud turned and shot from inside the box, but his effort was wide of the right-hand post.
Nana Kyei's effort in the 87th minute was comfortably held by Nolan as the visitors stepped up their search for an equaliser. But Town sealed the win as the game was about to enter stoppage time. Sayoud received the ball in the middle of the park, took the ball out wide, beat the full-back and his floated cross-cum-shot found its way into the back of the net.
