Town frustrated by late Hornchurch rally
Enfield Town 2 AFC Hornchurch 2
Despite dominating for lengthy spells, and having the lion's share of the chances, Town contrived to let a two-goal lead slip with less than ten minutes to play. Having said that, the Urchins never gave up and will feel their effort towards the end of the game deserved some sort of reward.
It all looked good for the hosts as they hit the woodwork early on and dealt with a couple of Hornchurch corners comfortably. Then, after a dangerous cross had been well defended by Kenzer Lee and Sam Youngs had forced visiting keeper Callum Chafer into action from distance shortly afterwards, Town won a corner on 17 minutes. The ball was played into the crowded danger area and, with Hornchurch desperately trying to clear, centre-back Taofiq Olomowewe stabbed the ball home at the second attempt.
At the opposite end George Purcell fired a free kick way over the top , but Town were dominant. Shortly before the break, Kenzer Lee suffered an arm injury and was replaced by Jamie Hursit. Lewis Taaffe sent a free kick off target and a long distance effort from Remi Sutton flew just over.

Home fans didn't have to wait long after the restart for a second goal. After Bilal Sayoud had had an effort blocked at the near post and then fired over in a subsequent attack, from a free kick in a central position the ball was played to Sam Hatton on the right, and Liam Hope was quickest to react to his low cross to give Town some breathing space.
Hornchurch sent on Theo Fairweather-Johnson and George Saunders and later, out of nowhere, Hornchurch pulled one back. A free kick was conceded cheaply on the edge of the home box, and Brad Warner curled the ball over and around the wall past a static Joe Wright in the Town goal
Connor Hogan went close from a Fairweather-Johnson cross, before, in stoppage time, an attack down the visitors' right ended when substitute George Saunders slipped the ball across for Sean Marks to tuck the ball away and grab an unlikely point for the Urchins.
