Town keep in touch
Enfield Town 2 (Devyne, Doyle p) Met Police 0; Town keep in touch with the Ryman Premier play-off contenders with a 2-0 win against the Met at the QES
Tyler Campbell, prominent throughout, forced an early corner off Rob Bartley and Will Salmon got in a timely tackle on Corey Whitely as the hosts were quick of their marks.
After 16 minutes, Town took the lead with a picture-book goal. Campbell floated a superb cross from the right and Bobby Devyne rose to head down accurately and emphatically to keeper Craig King's right.
Nathan McDonald made a couple of important saves from Leon Smith and Joe Turner, while at the other end, Harry Ottaway was thwarted in a one-on-one situation by King as he bore down on goal.

The game was effectively won eight minutes into the second half. After King had done well to parry a fierce Ottaway drive, Whitely was brought down by Met skipper Steve Sutherland in the box and Ryan Doyle dispatched the penalty with confidence and power.
Andre da Costa planted a free-kick onto the roof of the Town net but, shortly afterwards, Bartley brought Ottaway down with a dangerous challenge in a central position as the striker turned towards goal and, although he had already been booked so would have left the field anyway, referee Tim Donnellan had no hesitation in brandishing a straight red card.
A glut of substitutions from both sides midway through the second period did little to affect the outcome of the match. After the impressive Turner had fired wide and Ollie Treacher had beaten Whitely in the air to a far-post chip by Devyne, Ottaway, who could have had a hat-trick, had a great run with a few minutes remaining which took him past a number of defenders, but he rolled his shot agonisingly wide. In truth, a third goal would probably have been harsh on the visitors, and manager Bradley Quinton described the overall performance as patchy, but Town’s victory was nevertheless deserved on the day.
