AFC Hornchurch 2 Enfield Town 1
Cheshunt Community Cup
In their first of their two 60-minute matches at Theobalds Lane, Town lost out by the odd goal in three against a lively AFC side in oven-temperatures on a hard pitch that played well considering the recent drought. New signing Sam Chaney made his debut in Town's midfield.
The newly-promoted Essex outfit were quick out of the traps and took the lead after 2 minutes. A cross was played in from the right and was converted by Marks.
Town equalised after 12 minutes whena cross from the left by Remi Sutton was well controlled by a trialist, and he spun to convert the chance low to the keeper's right. Town began to have a good spell of possession, but there were no more goals at the break.
In the second period there were chances at both ends but it was the Urchins, who had lost 0-2 to hosts Cheshunt in the opening game, who secured the win with an impressive strike when a free-kick from Porter was volleyed into the net by Peters.
Town Starting XI: Wright, Trialist, Sutton, Olomowewe, Rumens, Johnson, Chaney, Trialist, Bricknell, Taaffe, Trialist.
