Town's under 23's beat a lively Chelsea Rovers at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park last night.
Having not played for a month and starting with a side which included a couple of last season's under 18's and a couple of triallists, Town were disjointed and off the pace in the early stages.
Rovers pace up front was unsettling and created their opening two goals, but a penalty just before half time gave Town a lifeline. Making multiple changes at half time, Town scored again in the first minute of the second half and for the first time started to dominate the ball.
Rovers were never out of it and always looked a threat on the break, but were deflated when Town went in front. Both sides could have scored again before the end, but what a great experience.
Rovers enthusiastic and noisy supporters really gave the game a slightly surreal feel, but Town thoroughly enjoyed their night in South London and thank their hosts and wish them all the best for the future.
