YB SK Beveren are the first Supporters owned club in Belgium. Set up with the help of Supporters Direct Europe the club follow the principles of one fan one vote very familiar to ourselves.
Town Chairman Paul Millington said “It will be a great honour to welcome YB SK Beveren to our Stadium. They have taken the first steps in showing that supporters in Belgium can take the lead in owning their own club and we wish them every success. “
YB SK Beveren follow in the footsteps of Enfield Town, AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester among others and join the growing supporters owned club movement. The game will be Enfield Town's first international fixture and highly symbolic, being between the two countries first wholly 'supporter owned' clubs.
YB SK Beveren President André Bolsens said "The board, the fans, the players, the association members and the sports staff of YB SK Beveren are really looking forward to this game and we are very grateful to Enfield Town and FC Supporters Direct".
Following a merger between KSK Beveren and RS Waasland, Beveren supporters became disenchanted and in January 2011, Eskabee 1935 was set up to revive the football club and YB SK Beveren was created, joining the RBFA. 'YB' representing their colours Yellow & Blue, was incorporated into the new clubs name and from 2011/12 the club started in the Fourth Provincial league, Belgian footballs lowest level. Their home games were played at the Meesterstraat in nearby Sint-Niklaas, but the club have been working with the council to return to a stadium in Beveren.
